2006 Training Day
November 4 @ The Space Needle
The “Santa for Starlight” is a visiting Santa program. We attend holiday parties for donations to the Starlight
Starbright Children’s Foundation. This is the best volunteer work you can find. We get to be Santa and fun of entertaining kids and their families during the Christmas season.
We truly have the best part of volunteering. Santa volunteers are not responsible for finding donations. The
administrative work is done before a Santa is assigned a visit. Others do the mailing, booking, and donation collecting.
Once assigned a visit, the Santa volunteer’s responsibility begins. Again, the volunteer effort is better than
other programs. His first job is to contact the host. This is normally one of the hardest parts of volunteer work. But, when Santa makes the call, the host is anxious to talk
to him. When Santa goes to a party, everyone is excited to see him. While at the party, Santa’s job is to have fun. What other volunteer has fun through the whole process while
getting the satisfaction of helping a great organization like the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation to raise funds.
We insist on training our Santas. We are not “Mall” Santas. We go to holiday parties in private homes, day care
centers, offices and other holiday gatherings throughout King, South Snohomish and North Pierce Counties. A Santa is committed for a given length of time at an event. Most are
in homes and are 30 minutes long. The training is to help Santa to know what to expect at a party. The more prepared they are for the first visit, the more fun they will have
and therefore, enjoy the rest of the season even more.
Training is an annual morning workshop and get together for all our Santas. We meet in early November. By having
the experienced Santas, we want to show the Santas just starting, that with the right attitude, everyone can have fun at being Santa. We also encourage Mrs. Claus and elves to
come and participate. For many years, the Seattle Space Needle has generously donated us a training area on the mid-level of the Needle.
Please join us this holiday season. We need Santas. We have limited quantities of Santa suits and accessories. It
is great if you bring your own suit. If you have a significant other or a friend who would like to be Mrs. Claus or someone who want to be an elf, they are welcome. No costumes
are provided for Mrs. Claus or elves.
Santa Claus brings the Fun and Excitement of Christmas to Holiday Events. You can have this fun while raising
funds for the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation.
